Michael explores the intersection of technology and human experiences: As co-founder and director of the xm:lab at Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar, he investigates how we can thoughtfully design our increasingly digital world to foster meaningful, inspiring interactions.
Drawing from expertise in human-computer interaction, AI, and computer science, Michael works at the creative boundaries between real and virtual spaces. His practice centers on collaborative exploration—partnering with storytellers, game designers, and media artists to discover new possibilities for aesthetic and impactful experiences.
Bridging academic research with industry application, Michael brings experience in shaping technological products and startups, translating experimental insights into real-world solutions.
Currently, he leads research within the EU-funded HAMLET project and contributes to IMPULSE, while recently completing work on the BMBF-funded medical tr.AI.ning project, where he guided the 3D design development as HBKsaar's team lead. He is also involved in the co-development of a VR conflict resolution simulator with K8 and CRISP.
