Beschreibung

This class will be taught in English.

In this bloc seminar workshop we will discover possibilities for type design and lettering. These can be experimental alphabets, (language) expansions of designs, found lettering turned into a font, grid-based explorations or even the start of a serious type family that is exploring a possible design space (variants of a design, e.g. in weight, width, angle etc). No previous knowledge is necessary. Ideas can be developed further in Atelierprojekt »Große Schrift«.

We will work in Mac-only software like Glyphs or Robofont, or webbrowser-based Fontra app (for Mac and Windows users). https://fontra.xyz A laptop with the installed software (trial version of paid apps) is required. Infos on that and what to bring will be sent after enrolment. Definitely sketching tools like sketchbook, paper, pencil, pens, but also ink, brushes, nibs to your liking.

Ando Borione is a type designer and art director from Paris. She holds an MA in Type Media from KABK The Hague.
