Beschreibung

Spatial turn - L'espace vècu - Räumen!

Was ist Raum? Wo sind wir in Raum und Zeit? Was tun?
Hands on!

Spatial Turn - L'espace vècu - Make Room!  What is space? Where are we in space and time? What should we do?  At the beginning of their studies and in the course of their broader artistic practice, all participants are confronted with questions about space and time and the practical conception of space in design and in relation to social conditions, which are currently being called into question more than ever. Thus, structures, constellations, and intra- and interactions are essential avenues for seeking socially impactful positions within the artistic and design fields. Space has transformed from a physical container into a social structure. By engaging with the development of spatial concepts into direct, experimental spatial practice, experiences can be gained and incorporated into necessary processes of social development. Objects, things, ghosts, materials, and beings move within these conceptions of space, which feed absolute or relational models into the reality of constructive misunderstandings. An example is Henri Lefebvre’s model, which divides space into three dimensions that constantly influence one another. Spatial Practice (Le perçu—perceived space): Everyday physical life, streets, buildings, and how we move through them. Representations of Space (L’espace conçu—conceived space): The space of planners, architects, and cartographers; strongly shaped by ideologies. Spaces of Representation (L’espace vécu – lived space): The space of users and artists breaks away from the guidelines set by planners and is symbolically reinterpreted. Through “spacing”—the arrangement of objects and the associated forms of action—Martina Löw views space as a relational arrangement centered on negotiation. Space emerges through action and negotiation. Hands on!12
